The River Café, Take Two

Sitting and writing this blog post in our little Airbnb in Brooklyn, my last weekend in London feels like many moons ago. But it was a weekend we will always remember as it centred round a meal at our most loved restaurant, The River Café, to celebrate A's (B's younger brother) graduation.

We sat in the window looking out over the Thames on a chilly July evening, toasting A's (and also B's, as it happened) fantastic exam results and all they had achieved over the last year(s) with a frosty, fruity, white peach bellini.

The food was utter Italian perfection, and we ate our way through most of the menu: mozzarella, linguini, scallops, turbot, lamb, ragú, lemon tart, summer pudding, affogato... All accompanied by glasses of crisp white wines and a rich Chianti Classico. The evening ended with a plethora of sweet wine which led to us hopping in our Uber to return to East London in an even happier state than we would have otherwise been.

If there was one way to ensure we left London with the happiest of memories, it was by spending our last Saturday with family, celebrating in the best possible way: with the tastiest food, and a few too many glasses of our favourite wines.
